AP Physics Students Investigate Flight with Two-Liter Rockets

Posted Date: 10/22/26 (09:00 AM)

Ms. Byrne's AP Physics 1 students turned the field behind Brighton High School into a rocket launch site on Monday, Oct. 19. Students used a bike pump to pressurize two-liter bottles filled with water and launch them into the air. The objective of the experiment was to investigate how different amounts of water affect the time of flight.

This is one of a series of investigations in the dynamics unit, where students are tasked with explaining how rocket launches work and what the experience of an astronaut is like.
