Students Recognized by National Merit Scholarship Program

Several Brighton High School students were named Semifinalists and Commended Students in the 2026 National Merit Scholarship Program.

The semifinalists are among a total of 16,000 U.S. students chosen to compete for scholarships next spring. About 34,000 Commended Students were recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Although they will not continue in the 2026 competition for scholarships, Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 students who entered the 2026 competition by taking the 2024 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).

The Semifinalists are:  Ananya Bansal, John Luger, Anne Nutter, David Yang, and Christopher Zaremba.

The Commended Students are: Bailey Bateman, Carol Bennett, Aditya Burly, Noah Busch, Timothy Chen, Abigail Garvey, Elias Gray, Mira Grossfield, Arwen Hull, Molly Kirkwood, Benjamin Kleiner, Darren Lin, Marie Mikols, Trevor Nolan, Tejus Reddy, Royal Ricks, Duncan Rutkowski, Aditya Shaligram, Sara Solomon, Filip Stefankovic, Krishna Srivatsav Tangirala, and T. Tombs.
