Brighton High School Students Visit France

Posted Date: 3/10/25 (4:43 PM)

The Rennes Exchange is a school-to-school exchange with the high school, Lycée Sévigné, located in Rennes, France. This is the 67th year of the Rennes-Rochester Sister City Partnership.

In October 2024, 48 French students and three chaperones visited Brighton High School and stayed with host families. During their visit, the students attended classes at Brighton High School, visited the University of Rochester, Rochester Museum and Science Center, Rochester City Hall, and Niagara Falls, and participated in a soccer tournament at Nazareth University.

During February recess, 37 BHS students and four chaperones visited Paris and Rennes. They spent 10 days visiting historical sites and monuments including la Basilique du Sacré-Coeur, la Tour Eiffel, l'Arc de Triomphe, le Quartier Latin, le château de Versailles, le Mont Saint-Michel, the Normandy D-Day Beaches (Omaha), the Caen Memorial Museum, and the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial.  Students were immersed in the French language and culture for a week while they stayed with their host families in Rennes.  In addition, they attended classes at our partner school, toured a French university, watched a professional handball game, and visited the city and surrounding areas of Rennes and the region of Brittany.

Both visits were very successful, and we look forward to continuing our partnership every two years.  The next exchange is slated for the 2026-27 school year.
