BHS Students Excel on National German Exam

Almost 80 students from Brighton High School participated in this year’s National German Exam offered by the American Association of Teachers of German (AATG). The AATG is a competitive and difficult exam that is made up of authentic audio, video, and written sources to test students’ knowledge and understanding of German.

Students who score in the 90th percentile can win a study trip, all expenses paid, including round‐trip air transportation to Germany, a homestay with a host family, and excursions to places of cultural and historical significance. This year Filip Stefankovic was among the finalists.

Katie Seymour had one of the highest senior AATG scores (99 percent) and has been recommended for the Steuben Society Scholarship Award.

Several Brighton students at different levels were able to score high on this year’s AATG exam. Their hard work and dedication to learning the German language and culture paid off and they were awarded gold, silver, or bronze medals and certificates. These are the students who were awarded medals and certificates for their outstanding and excellent commitment and progress in learning the German language and culture.

Level 2 Gold: Hilen Lopez, Elias Seppo, Adin Mahmutovic, Catherine Monaghan, Olis Anthamatten, and Hazel Robinson.
Level 2 Silver: Tristan Brennan, Khalid, Elsamadony, Gia Cavallaro, Ostap Khaba, Yan Delorisses, Matias Farrell, and Max Bohn.
Level 2 Bronze: Daria Shalaeva, Peter Callan, Sam Filmore, and Tobin Smith.
Level 3 Silver: Noah Biedenkopf and Charles Cheng.
Level 3 Bronze: Kishan Totten, Simon Mooney, and Aakash Kelkar
Level 4 Gold: Filip Stefankovic, Elise Hosmer, and Katie Seymour.
Level 4 Silver: Isaiah Carr, Noah Busch, Evan Hoefen, and Frances Lovett.
Level 4 Bronze: Carol Bennett, Meme Mikos, Tejus Reddy, Ben Rizzone, Jackson Wojtovich, Lauren Russell, and Scarlett Wilder.
