Brighton High School student Joy Ejimadu was selected as the school’s Outstanding Senior. She was recognized at the Monroe County Council of School Superintendents’ (MCCOSS) Michael C. O’Laughlin Outstanding Senior Recognition Dinner at Monroe 2-Oreleans BOCES in May.
The Outstanding Senior Recognition Dinner is the only program which recognizes excellence in all our county and city high schools at one event. Students are selected for this honor based on their scholarship, leadership, service, and character. The honorees were presented a gift by Monroe One BOCES District Superintendent Dan White and their respective school superintendent.
Joy is the Founder and President of the Brighton High School Music Collective. She’s also in leadership for two community service–focused clubs: Friends of Rachel and Harmonies for Healing. Joy is a member of the Jazz Band and previously competed in Science Olympiad and Track and Field. She also serves as the Safety Captain for McQuaid Jesuit’s FIRST Robotics team. This year, the team qualified for the 2025 FIRST Robotics World Championship in Houston, Texas, where they were finalists in their division. By graduation, Joy will be awarded both the New York State Seal of Tri-Literacy and the Seal of Biliteracy. Next fall, she will be attending Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University to study Aerospace Engineering.
